Happy New Years

So it has been a long time since we last posted but we hope this video will make up for it. It may be long but it will fill you in on our year. We love you all and wish you all a great 2012!!!

Badges of Fun

We are super excited to start Family Fun's year long Badges of Fun challenge.  During the year we will get the chance to earn 10 different badges by doing something as a family.  This month was the Backyard Fun badge and we earned it by having a backyard campout.  For safety reasons we did it at grandma's house.  After roasting hot dogs and s'mores, we had a lot of fun using our new projector for our first outdoor movie night.  The best part was when the kids fell asleep in record time sleeping on top of every blanket we own in the tent.

When grandma called and told us that Brandon Mull was going to be at the Orem library we knew that we had to make the trip to go see him.  Anna has said that, "He is the best author in the whole world!"  She was beyond excited to sit and listen to him talk about his stories and why he became an author.  Dad bought her a copy of his new book (she wasn't able to finish it before school let out and had to return it to the library half finished) for him to sign.  Being completely star struck made her freeze up and she just stood and smiiled at him when it came her turn.  He was very nice and signed her book anyway.

Morrell Falls

We decided to celebrate the first day of summer by going on a hike.  It was a five mile round trip hike to Morrell Falls.  The trail was absolutely gorgeous and the kids were so excited to find snow.  We were amazed at the size and power of the falls.  There was so much spray that you got wet just looking at them.  The best part of the hike was when Uncle Landon carried Cassie the entire way back down.  Not a bad way to start summer.  We thought about making it a tradition until we heard about a family that has ice cream for dinner on the first day of summer.  Hmm...........

Splash Pad

The sun finally peeked out today after days of rain and gloom. We celebrated by taking the kids to the park. Montana parks are amazing because many have free splash pads. There is a sensor that the kids can touch to tun on the water and start the fun. We like free and they like water, everyone left happy.

Missoula Carousel

What vacation to Montana would be complete without a trip to the Missoula carousel?  We always love this family favorite.  We sometimes got sad when we did not get to ride an outside horse because then we could not try to get the brass ring. Lucky for us uncle Landon taught us a sure fire way to always get an out side horse. Both kids tried very hard But this time Anna was lucky enough to snag the elusive brass ring. Way to go Anna!

Ghost Towns & Rock Hounds

We picked the coldest day in June to visit Garnet Ghost Town.  While walking through the 30 preserved buildings we got snowed on!  It was the awesomest ghost town that we have ever been to and  it got even better when Maggie helped us find our first ever Letterbox.  After Joey fell in the mud we decided that a hike to the waterfall was out so we drove to Phillipsburg where we bought a bag of dirt that we searched through to find sapphires.  When it was all said and done we had a blast and found 88.64 karats of sapphires.  We are now officially addicted and planning our next trip back to buy another bag of dirt.

Seipert Style

The Seipert family has a style all their own - TROUBLE!  Bryce has been having way too much fun shooting blackpowder pistols, making water balloon launchers to shoot into the road (or at each other), and getting questioned by police after making homemade fireworks.  As fun as it is, we're hoping that Bryce doesn't get arrested before we make it home.  Cross your fingers for us!

Summer Vacation Begins

Our summer vacation started with a bang this year!  We were so happy to have Brian, Kelly and their family stay at our house.  It turns out that Brian is really the life of the party and he started a dance fest after dinner one night.  He helped Bryce finish the treehouse as well (more pictures to come).  Our families had a great time at the temple and Church History Museum before leaving for Logan.  While in Logan we had the chance to see Landon and Tiffany get sealed in the temple and had an awesome time playing at the hotel with the whole family.  We have had so much fun starting our summer vacation and can't wait to see what else it holds for us.

Summer's Here!

We had an awesome and exhausting last week of school.  There was the PTA carnival, Girl Scout Cookie Party and our Minute to Win It end of the year party.  When it was over Mom and Dad were beyond exhausted and the kids wanted to know, "What's next?"  We can't for our vacation to start.

No Fry Day

We woke up early (thanks to Cassie) and headed to Hogle Zoo to see their new Zoorasic Park exhibits and found much more than we expected.  The Utah Museum of Natural History has 13 robotic dinosaurs set up at the zoo that we wanted the kids to see but when we got there though there was a whole lot of something going on that caught us by surprise.  We got cheese sticks from the radio station, chapstick and bracelets from sunscreen experts (they also let us know that the sunscreen we've been using for years is no good), we got tribal patterns painted on our faces with colorful zinc oxide and each of the kids got to draw a picture on a t-shirt.  All of that on top of the dinosaurs made for a super fun day.

Graduation Day

Yeah, it's summer!  Well at least for one of us; Joey graduated from Kindergarten a week before the rest of us finish school.  He was super excited for us to see his graduation but because it was done in the middle of the day not everyone could be there.  It's okay, Dad recorded it and we all got to have a special graduation night with ice cream to top it off.  Joey's teacher said that he was energetic and out going with bit of monkey business mixed in to keep things interesting and that he was a quiet comic that often provides a fun diversion for his friends.  Basically; he is a sneaky, off task class clown that gets everyone riled up.  We are very proud of him and are excited for him to start the dual immersion program next year.

U2 Concert

When I called Bryce to tell him that I had won U2 tickets he was almost giddy, in fact when I got home from school he even asked to "caress them".  It was an amazing concert and an amazing night.  As a matter of fact it was our first real date in four years.  It was a great way to break that stretch and it came just in time for our tenth anniversary.  We are super greatful for a great boss who gave us the opportunity to have such a wonderful night.

Growing Up

Anna had a great birthday!  She chose to go to the children't museum which was a lot of fun for everyone.  She is now nine and growing up way to fast in Mom and Dad's opinion.  She is such a fun loving little girl who loves the outdoors and reading.  She is an eccentric kid who we lovingly call "quirky".

Feeding the Geese

When Lisa got home Thursday night we all decided to take Friday off to have some fun.  But, when it came down to it Anna couldn't bring herself to miss a day of school.  We didn't let it hold us back though.  We took a nice walk around Decker Lake and then fed the geese.  They were a bit forceful but that didn't scare off Cassie, she kept trying to catch one!  We came home sunburned and happy.

Geocaching/ Letterboxing

Okay, finally, we are ready to go! We have been very excited to go Letterboxing and Geocaching but just have not been able to get all the necessary items put together. In Letterboxong you need a hand carved stamp to stamp the notebook in each hidden letterbox. For Geocaching we needed a small treasure to leave behind at each cache we find. We are very excited to try  both so we have been working on all of it at once. As a family we decided that our trail name would be Summer Warriors because we love summer so much. Both our stamp and treasure carry our name in them. In the stamp we put the initials S.W. in the center of a sun and all of our hand made key chains have a version of the sun in a bottle cap. Now all we need is good weather and healthy kids to go hit the trail. In our favorite links section we have added links to both Geocaching and Letterboxing web sites for any one interested in joining one or both of these great outdoor activities.

Spring Break 2011

So many books so little time!

Self Healing Art. You can walk all over it and it returns to it's original form.

We were not happy when our spring break was rained out but we found some great fun to do indoors. We started out with the Carl Bloch exibit at the BYU Museum of Art. Then stopped of at the dollar theater for Gnomeo and Juliet in 3D. It was a good first day of Spring Break despite the weather.

Super pooper

Much to our surprise and excitement Cassie decided diapers are out and potties are in. She is doing an amazing job at knowing when she needs to use the toilet and we haven't had a wet pair of panties since Friday (that could be due to the fact that we cant keep any clothes on her and she has been naked since Friday).  We are now dreaming of all the ways we could spend our diaper budget each month...... mmmm, Jamba Juice!

Joey's Loose Tooth

The excitement at our house, the next morning, when Joey not only found that the tooth fairy had left a golden dollar coin but pixie dust as well was almost unbelievable! By the way, the tooth fairy doesn't leave enough pixie dust behind to make you fly (Joey tried).

Locks of Love

Okay, so it took two years but we finally got our hair long enough to donate.  This was Anna's dream from the first time that she heard of Locks of Love.  She was absolutely certain that it was something that she wanted to do.   We were planning on waiting until school was out to make the cut but due to some unforeseen circumstances involving Cassie, Lisa's hair and a razor, we bumped things up by a couple of months.  Anna was a little unsure about her short style for a couple of days after losing her hair but she was all smiles when she got her certificate of appreciation in the mail.
